i didn't want to do it. really i didn't
i didn't want apple running my life nor did i want them to know EVERYTHING about me. how would this happen you ask? well if you get an ipod or iphone they sure as shite WOULD know a hell of a lot about you, if not EVERYTHING.
well i broke down and got an itouch. i've only had it a few days and i like it a great deal. i have NOT put any songs on it mind you.
so what i'm going to do now is share/review apps with you.
i'll start by reviewing this one
forgetmeknit by nathan davis
i just d/l it yesterday BUT I LOVE IT ALREADY! it's easy to use. you can post pictures and count your stitches and leave yourself pattern notes. there are templates you can use (i've not done so yet). my favorite part you ask? IT'S A BUILT IN RULER! wicked cool! i bring my knitting everywhere. i mean everywhere. i NEVER have a ruler with me. THIS IS PERFECT! i'm sorry my review isn't thorough but as i said, i JUST got the app. i entered one project so far (the one that MUST be finished by august 27th. yeah, right.)
check it out for yourselves at the link above. there are many more things it's capable of doing.
i highly recommend this to knitters. JUST GET IT. a bargain at 2.99!
and NO i'm not receiving any remuneration for this

that hat is GORGEOUS. that hat is FABULOUS. that hat would look darn good ON ME! unfortunately, i cannot start on it now. i'm in the middle of a ton of projects. ONE being a wedding gift (which will NOT be done in time. i am resolved on that issue).

anyway, i wanted to link to this because it was so extraordinary!
pic from the ravelry pattern
not a member of ravelry and want to be? here's a link.
i AM a little afraid to make it
but i do love it so. plus it's SO DAMN EXPENSIVE when you buy it by the bottle. it really is.

here's what i posted a couple of days ago under the header ryan casey is making another film
i posted about another of his movies, here. it's called crushing pennies
Here's some info on his newest venture (words from ryan himself):
Sensory Perception is a sci-fi drama about a "recovering" drug addict who has recurring visions of an apocalyptic future.
The inhabitants of Brass City wake up, sad and devastated, each and every morning. No one is sure why, and people won't talk about it, mostly because they don't know how to explain it.
Jeremy is fresh out of rehab, trying to put his life back together, but his thoughts are becoming distorted. He can't help but "see" more than he wants to, and a shadowy figure seems to be having the same problem. Cleaning up has never been so difficult, but it's never been so important, either.
The film will be shot in P2 HD with 35mm adaptors and an impressive array of premium lenses, in the Waterbury/Cheshire area, in October 2009. Produced and Directed by Alessandro Signore for Pale Nail Productions.....
(I am also a Producer on this).
The crew is entirely from CT - and we've (The CT New Wave) banded together to start making films that actually say something here.
and:
here's casting call info. (i don't know if casting is still happening though)
some myspace info on sensory perception

(vegan) orecchiette with vegetables (most done in the micro)
make sure your orecchiette is vegan of course (READ THE INGREDIENTS ON THE BOX)
this is what i used but use WHATEVER YOU HAVE ON HAND
1 lb orecchiette
1.5 c (give or take) shredded carrots
1 pack baby bella mushrooms
1 vidalia onion
1 red pepper
10 cherry tomatoes
tofu (whatever kind you have)
olive oil
vegan bouillon cube
pepper
clean the mushrooms, carrots, peppers. slice the mushrooms and shred the carrots (i bought them shredded) and dice the peppers. dice the onion and cut the cherry tomatoes in half or thirds.
put tofu in microsafe container and nuke for 5 minutes (with a bit of olive oil). stir and then nuke again for 5 minutes. i always cover my tofu loosely. it tends to spit in the micro.
place all other vegetables in another container with 1/2 of the bouillon cube and 2 T water. nuke for 5 minutes. stir and nuke again for 3 or 4 or 5 minutes (to your taste). mix with the already nuked tofu
cook pasta according to package. when done drain reserving 1/2 C cooking water. place that water and a few tablespoons of olive oil in the pasta cooking pot. put in the other 1/2 of the bouillon cube. cook for 1 minute. toss in the pasta and vegetables along with the pepper.
taste and adjust seasonings. i like red pepper flakes. i added a ton.
serve with cheese (if you're not vegan) or vegan parm (which isn't half bad)
and ENJOY

two more projects i completed
i made myself a little skull wristlet. it's to cover my bandage and when the bandage comes off, the scar (until i can get my tattoo fixed that is). here's the reason i have a bandage and will have a scar and why i'll need ideas for fixing my tattoo
the skull pattern is here. i just repeated it six times and didn't do any checks.
i also made this pin out of grungeboard like the last one

a new pin i made
(click the pics for a larger view)
the base is made of grungeboard by tim holtz (i love the stuff). i used a couple of star shapes, a heart shape and a couple of twirly shapes. i also used some of his crackle paint as well as his black distress ink. (note: the paint and inks are under ranger, the grungeboard is under idea-ology). i had some craft wire and beads laying around so i used that too. i especially like the wonderful little iridescent face beads (i got from earthfaire a GREAT beading and yarn resource). i gave the pin a little coating of diamond glaze then put a bit ofgold green leaf on it (using a little CHEAP paintbrush). i let it dry an hour or so then gave it another coat - then dry - then another coat. i glued a pinback onto it and voila!
