amazing, amazing, amazing amigurumi

i don't know if any of you have had natto. don't bother trying it if you haven't had it. I PROMISE YOU, YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT. oh, i've tried it and i'm one of five non-japanese people in the entire world who actually LIKES it. really, don't even try to find a place to buy it

it smells like shite (literally) and the consistency.... well how can i describe it? it's like slime covered little eyeballs. (i'm being NICE with that description. it should have been far far far worse).

anyway, i saw these pictures yesterday and KNEW i had to post them.

more pictures of the neck warmer i made for erin

once again, i used kauni

i VERY loosely based it on the swiss cheese scarf. i added bobbles as well. when i was done, i felted it in the washing machine (ALWAYS in a pillowcase or something like that. you don't want all that fuzz clogging your machine, do you???). since, let's face it, kauni is NOT soft, i lined the back with fleece. i made sure the holes were cut out on the fleece to match the neck warmer. i also did a bit of bead embroidery.

i wish i had pictures of the neck warmer actually ON a human, but i don't at this point. i do promise to post them once i have some

three neckwarmers

very loosely based on cafe au laine

here's a few pictures of the shawl i

made for amy.

(the lovely model is cathy not amy by the way).

it's anna's shawl but i didn't use the edging. i did an attached i-cord then i did a little crochet edge on top of that. i also did a little i-cord embellishment and i lined the lower edge with baubles. i used kauni yarn

this is a pretty cool little bracelet

you can make this weekend. it would make a GREAT christmas gift (or a no occasion gift too). if you're a crafter, chances are you have MOST of the equipment needed for the project. if not, you can easily substitute some of the things for stuff you may have laying about

ok a couple of things I'M working on now

neither of these is done.

one is a neckwarmer made out of kauni effektgarn and the other is a shawl (pattern is anna's shawl from stickfrossa blog) also made out of kauni

since the neckwarmer goes so close to the skin and let's face it kauni is beautiful BUT NOT THE SOFTEST YARN OUT THERE, i'm going to line it with fleece (you can see the white fleece peeking out from the holes. i'm going to cut the holes out so you can't see the fleece. i've not yet sewn the fleece to the neckwarmer. i'm not done embellishing and beading it.  i didn't use a pattern. i just started knitting and  riffed off of the swiss cheese scarf pattern. i added baubles as you can see and did a LOT of binding off and casting on at the ends as well as making random holes. (oh, i've obviously felted this after i was done knitting)

the shawl pattern i followed faithfully (well as faithfully as i can follow anything) until the end. i added baubles (what can i say, i'm in love with them) and i used an i-cord bind off. i think i'm going to do a crochet fancier border too. as you can see it is NOT blocked. i've not even woven in the ends.

just didn't want anyone to think i've been lax...........
