my new phone

and the little case i knit and felted for it

i used malabrigo and misti alpaca (both chunky) and BIG needles (i think 17 us, but not sure). for the pockets i used malagrigo but not chunky and much smaller needles. for the blue crocheted outline (yes, i know i did a HORRIBLE job there but hey, i made this for ME plus as you can see from some of the photos, a beverage or two may have been involved) i just used some yarn (wool) i had laying about. when i was done, i just threw it in a pillowcase and washed it with a few socks and 'unmentionables' on HOT. i let it go through the FULL cycle too

i picked myself up the latest copy of

spin off magazine.

in it they had some traditional danish shawls. i fell IN LOVE. i loved how they looked. how PRACTICAL they were. they are shaped like a regular triangular shawl in the back, but the ends (up front) are longer and curved. sort of making the shawl a heart. this is so you can wrap it around you and tie it in the back. it covers most of your upper body BUT it leaves your hands free. the pattern for the shawl is in the spin out issue OR, you can buy it from the website: lust auf farben. check some of them out on the site. they're amazing. i know the ones in spin off were made from hand spun and hand dyed yarn.

i am going to make mine from malabrigo which i LOVE as well.

the shawl pictures are from the lust website. i'll post mine when i get started.

what did i do ALL day yesterday?

i wound yarn into balls. i mean ALL day

i started with 1050 yards of BEAUTIFUL handpainted tencel i got a while ago from mystical creation yarns (they MAY have gone out of business. their etsy store closed and the links to ebay and their other stone on their blog do not work). that 'yarn' was as thick as thread. as i said it's beautiful BUT IT'S SO DAMN THIN, it took forever to wind.

i had already wound the lace weight malabrigo in the color jaen. it's merino and so soooooooooooooft and lovely.

the two verigated non wound balls in the middle are koigu fingering weight painters palette premium merino (kpppm) at 175 yards. the dark non wound hank on the right is claudia hand painted fingering merino wool (peace love comfort and joy) at 175 yards. the hank on the left is;
atacama alpaca distributed by knitting fever at 110-120 yards
what am i going to make? i believe i am going to make a scarf that will remind me of the sea.
the point of this posting is; I NEED A BALL WINDER AND A SWIFT IMMEDIATELy

my modular squares

i think i'm going to make a multi-colored modular jacket (we'll see). i'm not a big fan of weaving in ends. i'm not a big fan of sewing. there's an AWFUL LOT of both if i plan on doing a jacket
